1940's Burgundy satin backed crepe ruched Baroque beaded vintage dress.
Although this dress has no label, it is in this section because of its fabulousness.
The 1940's obsession with Baroque and Medievil is very apparent in this dress. The heavy satin backed crepe is skilfully ruched into a central panel that is hand beaded in colour shaded glass bugle beads in the design of a shield, fleur de lis, scrolls and a dragon. The shoulder panels are also beaded with heraldic icons. The sleeves are long and fitted with pointed cuffs and seven covered buttons. The ruching on the front continues around the central panel, over the hips and down the front. The skirt is mid calf length and drapes beautifully. There is a side zip fastening and attached belt that ties at the back, to nip the waist in tightly.
